Veal Pierogi
Got this amazing plate after a long bike ride at the Mazuri lakes in Jabłoń. Restauracja Imbirowy Sad, 10/10 would happily carb-load here every day.
My little fairy tale of Polish flavors, pierogi feasts, steaming bowls of żurek, and other culinary treasures.

Somewhere in the middle of Kraków thanks to a local tip. Simple, homey, and exactly what I needed after a long day of walking around the city.
Selection from Pierozek in Brooklyn, that's home to the most authentic pierogi in NYC. They serve around 2000+ hand made piergoies a day and I could probably eat like half of them myself.
Ruciane-Nida, Tawerna Duch Puszczy! I'm a bit obsessed with mushrooms and fish is my love language, this piergoi had local zander filling with a chantrelle and leek sauce. OMG 10/10!
Polish dumpling craftsmanship at it's best, not pierogi but it was filled minced meat. Tasty, but the dough-to-meat ratio had me tapping out very quickly.
One of my fav variations from the week long piergi streak I had. It was with cod filling, in a dough that was colored by cooked beets. Honestly, it was heaven. Also after a long bike ride and I was starving.
Mały Holander, we have a soup pic from here too. Definitely delivered on the uniqueness, it was with young nettle filling. The side was raw sliced celery root that was basically an apple cosplay, and after a few bites I still wasn't sure what I was eating. Was not my fav, but it was a nice change of pace.
Also Krakow downtown, If i remeber correctly it was with sweet cheese filling. I need to keep better notes.
Pierogi Boys in Brooklyn, potato and cheese pierogi and meat pierogi. The place is tiny so you can watch the guy make them pierogies rigth in front of you, service was super. The staff was really hyping up my kindergarten level Polish. Will come back just for that support.
Tradycja Maurskiego Smaku, this place was 12/10, the pierogi was amazing, dreamy ambience, service top notch. Bought some other Polish items here, like cake and a local cinnamon apple liquor I am still daydreaming about...
Yes, I'm just as obsessed with żurek as pierogi. Kraków again, again need better notes, mystery restaurant, butzero regrets.
Still Krakow, I kinda liked the sunny side instead of the hard boiled eggs. Variety is the spice of life.
Restauracja Imbirowy Sad came through again with żurek and fermented saffron. Was absolutely magical.
No notes, only love. Trust me, it was amazing.
Mały Holander. Might've been żurek, might not? The food was really tasty, but the place was packed to the brim. Took a nice walk around the grounds, overall I'd say it was worth the visit.
First Christmas in Poland. Homemade food, happiness unlocked.
More simple happiness on a plate. What else can you ask for?
Homemade żurek 1000% outshines restaurant versions. Everyone has their own recipe, each with a little twist, a different flavor, or a unique topping. It was mind-blowingly good, even though I was already stuffed from days of nonstop eating. By this point, we were averaging two bowls of żurek a day.
Same story, still delicious.
NYT Cooking recipe I actually pulled off. Refreshing, unique, and way too much prep work for to ever repeat.
Mix of a bit of everything, I'm not sure what was in it, but it was delicious. Again home made food can't be beaten.
Creamy eggs with crispy bacon pieces. This was one of my fav breakfast dishes even tho I am a die hard sunny side up girly.
A mix of sausages.
You can just buy this in the store! It was insanely fresh. Petition to make this a worldwide thing.
My pierogie making skills are improving. Doing the work beautifully.
Traditional poppy seed dish for Christmas. I'm not sure what was in it, but it was super sweet and dense. I surrendered after couple of spoons.
Brekkie food, love all the sausages but really the liver pate was the best.
Tartar and in the background borscht. I was a bit sick at this point and all the soups carried me through.
Blue Nysa Van, Kraków. It was grilled, smoky, and perfect. My polish companion was not blown away, but I was.
I didn't order this and at first had no clue what I was looking at. I usually associate celery with that green, zero-calorie nothing stick... plot twist! It was delish. And those mushrooms? Juicy and tender like a dream. The whole dish came together so perfectly.
Other than the home made stuff, this was the best zapi I have had. Polish street food royalty. Mushrooms, cheese, and pure joy.
Got it at a touristy seaside spot. I still really liked it. It probably wasnt hand made by scratch, but I am always up for fishy things
Crispy potato layers stacked with bacon bits and an avalanche of sour cream. Wasn't a pierogi, but honestly it was so good.
We had couple of rounds of pączki. Jelly? Cream? Who knows.
Small town hotel restaurant going big on portions. Tasty and elegant, but I was definitely fighting for my life to finish the plate. Doesn't look like a lot, but trust me I was secretly sliding meat onto my neighbor's plate.
Beetroot soup and cheese blintzes. I had to try it, and it was ok. Tho honestly we went there for the shrimp sandwich.
Yes, I own pierogi socks, and yes, I almost stuffed this restaurant pillow in my bag. Self control was the real side dish here.
